Don MacDonald is a spoken word poet and producer based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

He won the Great Gateshead Slam 2018 and has performed at Glastonbury Festival and the Albert Hall. His poems have featured in the anthology- ‘New Word Order’ as well as ‘The Writer’s Cafe’ and ‘Riggwelter’ journals. He has completed commissions on behalf of the Curious Festival 2019 and Elswick Community Leisure Centre.

Don has an MA in creative writing and is both a professionally qualified English teacher and youth worker. He has twenty years of experience working with young people developing creative projects and currently runs poetry projects in schools with his own company- SlamFresh.
