John is a very active touring musician and composer, currently undertaking a PhD in composition and improvisation. John has collaborated with well-known artists across many platforms and been involved in theatrical presentations in national theatres including playing at Theatre Royal, Newcastle upon Tyne and at The Sage Gateshead.
John recently played bass with Paul Smith from Maximo Park featured at UK BBC Radio 6 (as album of the week). With Skimstone Arts he has devised, improvised and performed in Doorbells (Barnsley CIVIC Theatre and Northern Stage Scratch Nights, Edinburgh Festival) and Peace Process-ion (Sunderland Minster / Sanctuary Arts Space Gateshead) and attended training with Frantic Assembly and Spymonkey at Hull Truck Theatre. John also has long experience in education, both as an academic and as a tutor and community music practitioner at The Sage Gateshead.
