Smokescreen

/ˈsməʊkskriːn/

“…a cloud of smoke created to conceal military operations”
“…a ruse designed to disguise someone’s real intentions or activities”

Smokescreen is a mixed media exhibition including photo montage, photography, sculptural installation alongside, audio recordings and original music compositions. Using literal and metaphorical images and objects, personal stories and experiences, artists have explored their own individual and collective interpretations of Smokescreen – ways of hiding or obscuring our intentions and emotions while investigating the nature of our dichotomy – the relationship of our inner and outer selves.

How do our dreams, illusions, conscious and subconscious choices all play into an understanding of our own personal smokescreens?

Audience Feedback

‘Interesting as well as beautiful – lots to think about. A very good mix of the visual and aural. Well curated, with individual artists being allowed to speak through their work.’

‘Thank you for the exhibition. I think that a great deal of our different modes of expression are taken for granted, even invisible to ourselves. I think that the exhibition brings this into the foreground for contemplation.’
