St Michael’s Cafe

St Michael’s Cafe is a community space in the heart of Byker run by Rev Phill Medley and Mission Initiative Newcastle East Youth Service with youth worker David Johnson.

The Reaching Out team worked for a week of residency at St Michael’s Café from 12 August to 24 August 2019.

The aim was to engage with residents from young people aged from 11 years upwards, co-creating artworks through a series of taste testing sessions with salty, sweet and sour food items, hoping to evoke the participant’s experience or thoughts about Byker.
