Young Artists Collective Leadership Team

Click here to watch our Power Through Progression Film.

We, the Leadership Team are made up of young artists aged 16 – 25 who have completed leadership experience and opportunities with Skimstone Arts, including achieving our Silver and Gold national Arts Awards.

Our responsibilities as members of the Leadership Team are to make sure we influence how we work together, create, make and produce artworks, gigs and performances, and support other artists and young people in our wider community and the company.

In our weekly Leadership Team meetings we chair, take minutes, set the agenda, talk about and make decisions on and organise opportunities for our activity and also some areas of company activity.

We learn about administration, risk taking in making decisions, what ethics and practical things we need to consider (for example health and safety), recruiting new people to join the Young Artists Collective, marketing and who is going to attend which company meetings (for example with funders, arts organisations or community settings with the Lead Artist and / or Artistic Director).

We bring energy, commitment, ideas and new ways of approaching events, building relationships and are an important part of Skimstone Arts and their professional work.

We are all members of Skimstone Arts’ Young Artists Collective, a diverse group of young people who work in and beyond the studio to create an individual and collaborative arts practice. Members explore different art forms including photography, art, music and film, and develop arts leadership skills with others.

We also have our own touring band Reality Boots which creates, produces and performs original songs regionally and nationally.
